Tokyo Water Drainage System. Japans-underground-drainage-system Located in Saitama prefecture on the outskirts of Tokyo city there lies worlds largest underground flood water diversion facility. Ariake Water Reclamation Center is a separate sewage system water treatment facility. This results in large amounts of water runoff which needs a massive sewer system to service the Tokyo area. Each silo can hold up to 13 million gallons of water and the entire system can clear up to 7000 cubic feet of water every second. The underground sewer system consists of 5 large concrete wells 65m high and 32m in diameter connected by a 64 km long tunnel system.
